Join our expedition to the Sunshine Coast Trail and experience old growth forests, mountain lakes, and stunning views of Beautiful British Columbia.  Our trips are chill and our focus is on getting you excited to come back again and again!

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Adventurous Journey eligible at all levels.

Where is the Sunshine Coast Trail?

Our Sunshine Coast Trail hike takes place on the eastern section of the trail departing right out of Saltery Bay ferry terminal.  The Sunshine Coast Trail traverses a wide variety of landscapes, from coastal shorelines, along creeks and lakes, through old growth forests to panoramic mountaintops. It provides hikers with the opportunity to experience Powell River’s breathtaking backcountry.

You can watch a slideshow with pictures from the section of trail we will be hiking here: SCT Troubridge to Saltery Bay

Where will we stay?

This epic trail now boasts 14 huts making it the longest hut-to-hut hiking experience in Canada!  This makes it one of the most unique and accessible wilderness adventures in North America.  For your enjoyment, we will be hiking to these huts where we can take shelter, cook and eat at rustic tables and basecamp for our day hike to summit Mt. Troubridge.   Camping may be in tents or huts depending on availability.

How hard will the trip be?

New to hiking?  A seasoned veteran? No problem! Our courses focus on having fun and enjoying our time in the wilderness.  Each day we travel to a new location (a leisurely 3-4 hours of hiking, not 8-12!) and we ensure there is plenty of time to chill and explore our surroundings.

Our mission is to get you super excited to come back for more and that means our focus is on you and your goals.  At PEAKxSchool, we understand that wilderness travel can be intimidating and sometimes overwhelming.  This is why we practice our skills before we go and take our time when out on the trail.  It’s all about having a good time!

Does it count towards my Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?

Yes, this Adventurous Journey course qualifies for all levels (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) and offers the Preliminary Training, Practice Journey, AND Qualifying Journey.  You do not have to be a DOE participant to join our trips.

PEAKxSchool is the only recognized North American provider of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Adventurous Journeys to offer a 100% Acceptance Guarantee.

How much is the course and what does that include?

The 7-day course is comprised of 2 days of preparation and a 5-day expedition.   Unlike other providers, we ensure that you learn and practice your skills before going out on the trail.  We also teach you how to plan and shop for the food you will take with you, a valuable DOE skill that few other providers teach.

The course fee of CAD$1089 + GST offers you the best value for a 7-day course.  We encourage you to compare and see for yourself.

Our course fee includes:

  • Industry standard insurance and risk management policy
  • Transportation to and from the trail

  • Experienced, professional leaders with industry standard (or better) certifications and qualifications.
